4 Questions To Ask When Hiring a Home Remodelling Company
You’ve finally decided you want to go ahead and get your home remodelled. All that’s left to do now is to find a home remodelling company that you trust to deliver a beautiful project. But how do you know where to start, and what should you research to help you make that decision? Here are some of our top questions to ask when considering home refurbishments in Surrey.
Photos of past projects
Here at NBC, we’ve worked on refurbishments across Surrey and the South-East for over 35 years, and we’re always happy to show new clients photos of our most recent projects. It may seem obvious, but gaining an understanding of your chosen contractors work is vital to the success of any project. Any trustworthy contractor would be more than happy to show you past examples of their work.
Perhaps ask to be given an address so that you can drive by the homes and assess the contractor’s quality of work with your own eyes. Of course, if the project took place mostly indoors, you’ll probably have to settle for pictures.
Know your time frames
Speak to your chosen contractor and gain an understanding of how they work. Keep in mind the amount of people they employ, and potentially the time of year as this could affect the working hours. For example, right before Christmas is probably not the best time to start working on a home refurbishment – nobody wants builders working in their house whilst they’re trying to decorate their home for Christmas!
Essentially, you’ll want to get a broader picture of how the project will go if you choose to work with this contractor. Whilst they don’t have to give you a daily schedule, they should be able to give you an idea of how long they think the project will take.
Who will be working in my home?
It’s very important to us here at NBC, and to the construction industry in general, that our clients know exactly who we are and that they can trust our expert team. We understand that you want to know exactly who is visiting your home on a daily basis. It’s more than likely that your home will see many faces come in and out while construction is taking place, and having a reliable point of contact to organise all these people will only improve your peace of mind.
Why not look on their website and see if they have a meet the team page? This will help you learn more about the team, and put a face to the name!
Who are your main suppliers?
Although this is perhaps not the main question on your mind, but having a simple understanding of where your contractor gets his materials from will go along way. It can also give you an insight into your contractor’s reliability and level of quality, by having an understanding of where your materials are sourced from.
