2018 Bathroom Trends: A Touch of Luxury
As a provider of quality property renovations in Guildford, NBC Construction likes to stay up-to-date and ahead of the curve when it comes to home design so that we can best advise our customers. This year looks to be one of opulence and luxury for bathrooms, which we all too gladly welcome! Make sure to keep an eye out for:
Baths have been sidelined by showers for far too long, but 2018 sees baths returning to their rightful place as the focal point of a bathroom! Whether you opt for a distinctive freestanding tub, or prefer the “spa” feel of sunken baths, you’ll notice that this year’s trend for baths is to place them in the centre of the room as a beautiful focal point. Smaller bathrooms that may not be able to accomodate a tub in the middle of the room can achieve a similar statement effect by installing a raised platform for their bath to reside on in all its glory.
Over the past few years, chrome has become the go-to metal finish for bathrooms – it’s very unusual to visit any bathroom (in a commercial or residential location) and not find it somewhere. But this ever-present finish looks to be toppled in 2018, with the rise in popularity of warmer, more opulent metallic accents like gold and copper. Again, this is meant to add a touch of luxury to your bathing area, and is to be used sparingly to save it from becoming gaudy. Some may be tempted to opt for rose gold finishes, but it is worth considering how this may date your bathroom in future.
According to trend monitors, 2018 will also see a rise in “lifestyle bathrooms” that feature luxurious and homely fitting options, including rainfall showers and even soft furnishings. Since bathrooms are one of the most-used spaces of the home (outside of the kitchen and living areas), this trend aims to make necessity feel that little more luxurious, the way it might at a hotel; the goal isn’t to get in and get out, but to appreciate your time there.
