What Can You Gain From a Home Extension?
With space increasingly at a premium in the modern day, the team here at NBC Construction are seeing more and more people deciding to build home extensions in Surrey rather than going through the (often difficult!) process of moving house. Everyone knows that extensions are something of an investment, but it’s worth considering exactly what an extension could do to benefit your life as a whole. So, just what can you gain from a home extension?
Extra Space and Storage
Minimalism may be the dream, but most of us find ourselves acquiring rather more stuff than we’d like to over the course of a life, which means we need somewhere to store it. First and foremost, extensions provide your home with more space and, by extension (quite literally!), more storage space. Of course, we’re not advocating getting extensions to use as some kind of dumping ground, but if you’re clever about layout and furniture, you can find a home for things that may have been lying around cluttering up your home before.
Increase the Value of Your Home
Whenever extra square footage is added to your property, you’ll see an associated increase in value, which is obviously fantastic if you’re planning on selling in future. Just how much value is added will depend on a lot of factors, but the biggest ones will be your location and what type of extension you’re having built (for example, whether you’re extending your kitchen, building a study, or adding an extra bedroom or bathroom).
The primary reason for your extension is probably utility and what it can bring to your everyday life (for example, how an extra bathroom will make the morning rush a little less hectic, or a bigger kitchen will become the hub of the home and a great family gathering spot!). If you’re constructing an extra bedroom, you’ll find that they can be a godsend if you regularly entertain guests, or are a must if you’re expecting new additions to your family; depending on your situation, you may even choose to use the extra room to take on a lodger.
